Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. Last fall and again this spring for Earth Day, employees and family members from Subaru joined the Nisqually Land Trust on protected lands along the Nisqually River to get their hands in the soil and plant native trees. In the fall, volunteers planted 150 native trees along the riverbank. In the spring, they returned for additional hands-on restoration work across sites that are part of a broader effort to strengthen the Nisqually watershed. Together, these efforts support the ongoing work of rebuilding the forested buffer that once naturally shaded and protected these waters. These native trees will grow into a living buffer along the Nisqually River—providing shade that cools critical salmon habitat, stabilizing streambanks, improving water quality, and helping restore the forested landscape that defines this watershed. Their work connects directly to a larger community-driven conservation effort led by the Nisqually Land Trust, where thousands of native trees are planted each year alongside restored acres of protected habitat and miles of safeguarded salmon-bearing streams. Within that bigger story, the Subaru team's contribution is visible in a very real way: 150 native trees planted along the Nisqually River in the fall, creating roots in the ground that will support a healthy, thriving watershed for generations to come. By returning season after season, they've helped turn commitment into action—one tree, one site, and one stretch of the Nisqually River at a time.
As Olympia's PAWS 4 A CAUSE celebrates its fifth anniversary, the group is especially grateful to Olympia Subaru for teaming up with KGY/KAYO to sponsor a live remote at our event. They joined a list of more than 60 sponsors in the Thurston County area supporting the event to raise funds to fight cancer in people and pets. Harlan's Homes for Hope, a Relay for Life Team dedicated to raising funds to find a cure for cancer, joined forces with Dr. Lisa Parshley, a local veterinary oncologist, to form Cancer Fighters, a local nonprofit public charity hosting the annual PAWS 4 A CAUSE dog walk five years ago. Since PAWS 4 A CAUSE kicked off in May 2022, it has raised over $72,500 to support the American Cancer Society and the Animal Cancer Foundation. The group's goal for 2026 was to raise $30,000 more. The 2026 total has not yet been finalized. The Animal Cancer Foundation funds comparative oncology research and unites pet and human research for a cure. The American Cancer Society funds critical cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient and family services. PAWS 4 A CAUSE estimates more than 500+ attended the event, including participants, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers, including students. We had 52 tents, including 8 for-profit vendors and many nonprofit partners supporting animal services in Olympia. Gale had always trusted Subaru. That trust wasn't built overnight—it grew over decades, starting with her very first Subaru back in 1986. It carried her through years of change, quiet moments, and long drives that felt like freedom. Subaru wasn't just a car brand to her; it was something steady in the background of her life. Years later, in 2019, she found that feeling again when she bought her Crosstrek in California. It was more than just reliable, it felt thoughtful. When she experienced blind-side detection for the first time, she fell in love with it instantly. It gave her confidence, peace of mind, and a sense that the car was looking out for her. So, when it came time for her next car, the choice was easy. In 2023, now in Washington, she bought another Crosstrek—what she planned to be her last car. But this time, something was missing. The blind-side detection she had come to depend on wasn't included. She was disappointed but hopeful when she was told an aftermarket solution could bring that feature back. Wanting her car to feel complete again, she moved forward with it. But something didn't feel right. The vehicle began having issues, and eventually she brought it to Olympia Subaru to find answers. That's when she learned the aftermarket system was draining her battery. It was more than just a mechanical problem—it came at a time when life had already taken so much from her. She lost her husband in December. Along with him, she lost not only her partner, but also the pension they had depended on. Everything felt uncertain, and even small problems carried heavier weight. When she spoke to Jeff at the dealership, she shared her situation honestly. Not asking for anything, just explaining where she was in life. And that's when something unexpected happened. She was told, simply and sincerely, that Subaru would take care of the bill for her and that she didn't need to worry. In that moment, Subaru became more than just a car company again. It became what it had always quietly been in her life, something dependable when she needed it most. Grateful in a way words couldn't fully express, she came back later with a simple gesture: donuts. A small thank-you for the kindness that, to her, felt anything but small. Because sometimes, it's not just about the cars we drive. It's about the people who stand behind them when it matters most.
